My 2010 Best-of List
I had already kind of thought about doing this, but thanks to Salon Saloon for motivating me even more.

Year in Review
While I was writing my holiday letter and struggling with it, I started looking through my archives to figure out what actually happened. Here are some of the bloggy highlights.
January - I reviewed not only a year but a decade, and also proclaimed my love for pop music.

The State of Jeans in America Today
Alternate title: being a skinny girl on winter break is HARD.
1. I have a problem with all of my jeans. The problem is this - they fit for approximately 30 minutes after I wash them, then they droop and sloop and it’s terrible. It feels slovenly and doesn’t look good either.

The Good, the Bad

Having time to get things done! Like holiday letters!
The Bad
Leaving people you like to go…I dunno, feed the cat? Worst decision ever.
Being told not to drive, and also being told to move one’s car off an unplowed street onto...

Deep Thoughts
Every year around this time I get really excited about grapefruit and then I think about how boring I am and then I think about how a year ago I was excited about the very same thing and then I wonder, am I just going to be predictably excited about the same boring things at seasonal intervals for the rest of my life?
Cathleen P. Black Visits Public Schools She Will... →
The tone of this article is pretty hilarious, seeing that it uses the term “it’s a start” no less than four times as it shows the former publisher’s rather lukewarm reception during her first school visits. I’m really curious to see how this all pans out.

When Things You Are Used To Go Away
You keep refreshing tumblr to no avail, it had been something like an entire day and you didn’t realize how much you depended on the blue background, the bar prompting you to share, simply the fact that it was there.
Enough. It will come back. You’re making dinner when the power goes out. It’s dark, save for the blue ring of flame keeping your chili at a nice simmer. You stumble...
